Urging the United States Congress to pass into law Senate Bill 1683
currently pending before it.

Whereas, The United States Congress has pending before it for
consideration, the "Hunters Help the Hungry Act" (i.e., Senate Bill
1683), which was recently introduced by Senator Tom Harkin from
Iowa; and

Whereas, The Act is intended to provide assistance to the
forty-eight states which operate support programs to help process
game meat and deliver it to food banks in order to provide
sustenance to the hungry of this country; and

Whereas, There are great numbers of Americans who do not have
access to enough food to meet their basic needs and Senate Bill
1683 is designed to significantly contribute to addressing that
problem; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:


That the United States Congress is hereby urged to pass Senate
Bill 1683; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to provide
a copy of this resolution to all members of this State's
Congressional Delegation, the President of the United States,
Senator Thomas Harkin of Iowa, the Speaker of the United States
House of Representatives and the Majority Leader of the United
States Senate.
